David Lobel is the founder of Sentinel Capital Partners and serves as its Managing Partner.
Over more than two decades, he has established a successful, long term middle market private equity track record.
Before establishing Sentinel, Mr. Lobel spent 15 years at First Century Partners,
Smith Barney's middle market private equity and venture capital affiliate.
He was a general partner of funds managed by First Century and also served as a Managing Director of Smith Barney.
Before joining First Century, Mr. Lobel was a consultant at Bain & Company.
Mr. Lobel received an MBA and an MS with distinction from Stanford University. He also serves on the Management Board of the Stanford
Graduate School of Business. Mr. Lobel, who was born in South Africa, received a
B.Sc. (Hons), with highest honors, from the University of the Witwatersrand.
He served with distinction in the South African Navy, where he graduated first in his class.
Mr. Lobel currently is chairman of Sentinel portfolio companies Interim Healthcare,
Massage Envy, and Spinrite. He also served as chairman of Alemite Holdings, Castle
Dental Centers, Cottman Transmission Systems, Floral Plant Growers, Growing Family,
Met Merchandising Concepts, ReachOut Healthcare America, and Tony Roma's, and as a
director of Border Foods, Buffets, and Strategic Partners prior to the exits from
these businesses. While at Smith Barney, Mr. Lobel was associated with several successful
private equity-backed companies as an investor or director, including Office Depot,
Entre Computer Centers, and Rocky Mountain Savings Bank.
