John McCormack is a co-founder of Sentinel Capital Partners and serves as
a Senior Partner. Over the past two decades, he has established himself as a successful
lower middle market private equity investor. Before co-founding Sentinel in 1995,
Mr. McCormack spent six years as an investment professional at First Century Partners,
the private equity and venture capital affiliate of Smith Barney, where he worked
closely with David Lobel.
Before joining First Century, Mr. McCormack spent seven years at Coopers & Lybrand where
his principal assignments included conducting due diligence and acquisition reviews of
target investment opportunities for private equity firms and strategic buyers. He is a
CPA (New York) and holds a BS, cum laude, from Boston College.
Mr. McCormack currently is chairman of Sentinel portfolio companies Chromalox and Southern California
Pizza, and a director of Inscape Publishing, LTI Flexible Products, Massage Envy, Mid-West
Wholesale Hardware, and Trinity Consultants. He also served as chairman of Falcon Holdings
and NorSun Food Group, and a director of Alemite Holdings, Border Foods, Cottman Transmission
Systems, Floral Plant Growers, Growing Family, Madill, Met Merchandising Concepts, Nivel,
Strategic Partners, and Tony Roma's prior to the sale of these businesses. While at Smith
Barney, Mr. McCormack was associated with several successful private equity-backed companies,
including Railtex and Encore Paper.
